All Hands on Deck: Our team is our strength, and you’ll be involved in the setup and teardown of event elements—trophies/medals/banners set up, and beyond. This role requires a hands-on approach, including assisting with sound checks and helping move equipment.

VIEW MERCHANDISE MANAGER

We are searching for highly motivated, organized, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Merchandise Managers. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about delivering an exceptional client and guest experience. As a Merchandise Manager, your primary responsibility will be to drive sales of VIEW merchandise while ensuring that our displays are impeccably maintained and reflect the elegance of our brand.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for clients and guests, providing information on stage and change room locations, scheduling, and more. Your warm welcome sets the tone as guests arrive, creating a positive and invigorating atmosphere from the moment they step through the doors.

Your Impact

When dancers aren’t performing on stage, they’ll be in the lobby, warming up or spending time with family and friends. This is your opportunity to connect with them, enhancing their experience at VIEW by helping them find the perfect piece of merchandise—a keepsake to remind them of their incredible weekend.

You will also be responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all merchandise, ensuring our displays are always pristine, and communicating with the Event Director if stock levels run low.

Responsibilities

  • Client and Guest Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for all inquiries, providing exceptional service and ensuring a seamless experience for everyone involved.

  • Sales and Merchandising: Drive in-person sales of VIEW merchandise, ensuring that displays are always organized, inviting, and reflective of our brand’s elegance.

  • Inventory Management: Keep a meticulous record of all merchandise sales and inventory, and communicate any stock needs to the Event Director promptly.

  • Event Support: Contribute to the setup and teardown of events, including the preparation of merchandise displays, running power to necessary equipment, and organizing all items to ensure a successful event.

VIEW TABULATOR

As a Tabulator at VIEW Dance Challenge, you are integral to the smooth operation and accuracy of our competitions. Your primary responsibility will be to master the software system provided by VIEW, ensuring that all adjudicator scores are accurately entered and processed. You’ll handle everything from downloading score sheets and preparing results to setting up the judges' table each morning and adapting to schedule changes throughout the day. Your role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and precision of the competition, making you the backbone of the VIEW experience.

Your Impact

Located beside the judges, you will be responsible for monitoring their scoring and ensuring high-quality audio-visual critiques. After each routine, a numerical score and critique from all three judges will be sent to your station. You’ll preview these critiques, document each score, and record specific information for every entry with meticulous attention to detail. Your work directly influences the accuracy and fairness of the competition outcomes.

Additionally, you will prepare the tabulation tablets, print and highlight paperwork for the Event Directors during award sessions, and ensure that judges select their special awards. Your ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure is vital in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Accuracy & Quality Control: Ensure the precision and quality of all scoring and critique documentation.

  • Award Preparation: Prepare all scoring documentation for each award session, ensuring that judges' tablets are tested and all necessary materials are ready.

  • Judges' Support: Set up the judges' tables each day, manage their requests, and ensure they are seated promptly after breaks.

  • Score Monitoring: Consistently monitor judges’ scoring, preview critiques, and document scores for each entry.

  • Event Setup & Teardown: Participate in setting up and breaking down event spaces, including setting up your station, judges' tables, and assisting with other event duties as needed.

  • Sharp/Keen Lookout: Communicate with VIEW Crew members throughout the competition to ensure the audience experience and stage factors are calibrated to the standards VIEW maintains.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in tabulation or statistics is a plus, though not essential—comprehensive training will be provided.

  • You are comfortable working with numbers and have a strong attention to detail.

  • You have experience managing and working with different personalities.

  • Proficiency with MAC computers and tablets is required.

  • You are capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment as part of event setup and teardown.

VIEW MUSIC MANAGER

Your responsibilities will include managing and playing music for each dance routine, selecting music for award games, and adapting to an ever-evolving schedule with precision and creativity. Your ability to seamlessly mix and control sound levels ensures that dancers, judges, and the audience enjoy a top-notch audio experience throughout the event.

In this dynamic role, you’ll handle client requests with professionalism, ensuring that all music is organized, high-quality, and ready to go before the competition begins. Your quick thinking and technical expertise will be essential in maintaining the flow of the event, from transitioning between performances to enhancing the energy of award ceremonies.

Your Impact

The Music Manager sets the tone for the entire day, curating an engaging and seamless audio experience that amplifies the excitement of the competition. You’ll be responsible for live-mixing and controlling sound levels to guarantee impeccable sound quality, both onstage and for the audience. Your keen attention to detail will ensure that every piece of music is perfectly timed and tailored to each performance.

Responsibilities

  • Client and Guest Relations: Handle music requests from clients, ensuring tracks are played at the correct volume and that all files have been accurately uploaded and organized.

  • Music Management: Collect, organize, and double-check all submitted music files, flagging any missing or corrupt files prior to the event.

  • Performance Support: Play music for all dance routines, monitor sound quality, and manage transitions between performances and VIEW background music.

  • Award Games: Select and play music during games and interactive segments, contributing to the overall excitement of the event.

  • Technical Management: Monitor and adjust mic sound quality for hosts both backstage and onstage, staying attuned to verbal cues and ensuring smooth transitions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You possess a deep understanding of music appropriate for dancers and family audiences.

  • You’re proficient with platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and have experience with music production software such as Traktor.

  • You thrive under pressure, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • You have strong client relations skills and a technical background that allows you to troubleshoot and optimize audio experiences.

  • You’re physically capable of assisting with event setup and teardown, including lifting and moving heavy equipment.

VIEW ASSISTANT

As an Assistant at VIEW Dance Challenge, you will be the heartbeat of our events, providing essential support across various aspects of the competition. This dynamic role requires someone who is adaptable, resourceful, and ready to jump in wherever needed to ensure the event runs smoothly. From managing social media to coordinating backstage activities, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of every facet of the event.

Your Impact

Your responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, including meticulously packing awards for on-stage presentations, maintaining a clean and organized staff room, and spearheading VIEW’s social media presence. You will be instrumental in capturing the excitement of the event by sorting and saving memorable photos, editing them, and posting them on our Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok accounts. Proficiency with Dropbox and social media platforms is essential.

In addition, you will assist in various operational duties such as selling merchandise, ensuring the smooth running of the staff room, and even fetching coffee for the team. Your role is vital in creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for both our team and event participants.

Responsibilities

  • Award Preparation: Accurately pack and prepare each award for on-stage presentations.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of all medals/plaques.

  • Staff Room Management: Keep the staff room tidy, well-stocked, and organized, including meal preparation for teachers and studio owners.

  • Social Media Management: Sort, edit, and post event photos on social media platforms; craft engaging captions that resonate with our audience.

  • Merchandise Support: Assist the Merchandise Manager and handle sales during break periods.

  • Event Support: Sweep the stage after awards, ensure backstage areas are clean and organized, and assist with any other duties as needed.

  • Team Support: Regularly check in and support all VIEW Crew members throughout the competition.

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 1 year of experience in an assistant role, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

  • A charismatic and engaging personality with strong communication skills.

  • Ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

  • Experience in dance competitions or theater is an asset.

  • Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment as part of event setup and teardown.

VIEW PHOTOGRAPHER
APPLICATION STILL OPEN

We are seeking talented movement and dance photographers to join our team, traveling coast to coast to capture the energy and artistry of our Dance Competitions from March through June. This contract role requires a commitment to working most weekends during this period, with potential opportunities for additional work beyond these dates.

As a photographer at VIEW, you’ll play a critical role in capturing the essence of each dance routine. You’ll need a sharp eye for timing and composition, ensuring you capture the peak moments of each performance. Expect to take around 30 shots for solo/duet/trio performances and approximately 50 for group routines. You will be responsible for transferring data to a laptop and uploading images daily. With approximately 750 routines to photograph over a weekend, your efficiency and attention to detail are key. Please note that no post-production editing is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Photographing approximately 750 routines over a 4-day weekend.

  • Labeling and managing SD cards daily.

  • Syncing your camera with the provided laptop.

  • Remaining focused and alert throughout long days of shooting.

  • Anticipating and capturing dynamic movements and emotional moments.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must have your own professional camera equipment & lenses (SD cards provided).

  • Required lenses: 24-70 F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8 (or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience shooting concerts, sports, dance, or similar events.

  • Experience in movement photography is highly valued.

  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada is required.

  • Willingness to commit to long workdays from Thursday to Sunday between March and June.

  • Availability to travel and work from Wednesday to Monday during the contracted period.

  • Ability to work up to 14 hours per day with appropriate breaks.
